WERC seminar – K. Spaleta: Resources at the UAF Advanced Instrumentation Lab

“Happiness is a lab full of (working) instruments: Overview of analytical techniques available at the Advanced Instrumentation Laboratory (AIL) ” by Karen J. Spaleta, UAF Advanced Instrumentation Lab.

AIL is a multi-instrument resource that specializes in elemental and surface analysis and related techniques. Lab manager Karen Spaleta will provide an overview of the instrumentation (EPMA, ESEM, TEM, AFM, XRF, XRD, FFF, (LA,LC) ICP-MS, and FTIR), explain the acronyms, and discuss principles of instrument operation and analytical capabilities. She will present several science vignettes in biology, geology, and environmental sciences to showcase how AIL resources have been used to answer specific research questions.
